Our Age Performance Specialists are educated and experienced to work only with older adults. Each trainer is instructed in the Age Performance methods which ensure a safe, challenging and comprehensive program to achieve optimal results.

Paul Holbrook, MA, CSCS

Paul Holbrook, MA, CSCS

Paul has a Masters degree in Gerontology from the Fischer Institute for Wellness at Ball State University. He worked as an intern at the Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University under the direction of Dr. Maria Fiatarone and Dr. Miriam Nelson. In addition, Paul also studied the social and psychological aspects on aging in relation to health. He was involved in increasing muscle strength and mass through resistance training in older adults at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center for the Aged, in Boston, MA.

Paul is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and has worked as a personal trainer for over 20 years with over 30,000 personal training hours.

In 2005, Paul founded Age Performance which is a human performance training center for adults 50 plus where he develops comprehensive strength training programs to improve their physical function and human performance. Paul gives frequent seminars and workshops on older adult physical performance at fitness centers and senior housing developments. He currently competes in Master Track and Field meets participating sprints. He won three gold medals and one silver medal at the Intermountain Masters Track and Field meet in Colorado in 2008. He can't wait to turn 50 (next year) so he can compete in the Huntsman World Senior Games in St. George. Paul is married with two children.

Jennifer J Foote, BA, AFAA

Jennifer J. Foote, BA, AFAA

Jennifer J. Foote is a certified personal trainer through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA). She has trained at Age Performance for more than 5 years. Jennifer has taught fitness classes in Salt Lake City, Washington D.C. and Denver. She is passionate about exercise and believes physical activity is essential to aging well. In addition to training at Age Performance, Jennifer holds a BA in Communications from the University of Utah and has worked in the public relations field for the past 20 years. She is married with two teenage children.

Eric AragonEric Aragon, NSCA, CSCS, USAW, Senior Coach

Eric earned his Master’s degree from the University of Utah in Exercise and Sport Science and his Bachelor’s from Weber State University in Physical Education. While in Graduate School, he worked as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for the University of Utah Athletics Department. He spent three years as the Health and Fitness Coordinator for the Huntsman Corporation.

In 1990, he became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists and in 2004, a Level 2 Senior Coach for USA Weightlifting. Eric teaches three simple rules for success in exercise: 1) Show up 2) Workout 3) Do rule #1 and rule #2 as consistently as possible. It really is that simple!

Ryan CarverRyan Carver, BS, CSCS

Ryan Carver received his BS from the University of Utah in Exercise Science-Fitness Leadership, minoring in Nutrition and Spanish. Ryan currently holds his Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Ryan's has been working with clients for 6 years. He believes in the power of food and helping his clients unlock their potential even when they don't see it themselves. Ryan is happily married with a beautiful little girl.

Some of Ryan's interests include competitive cycling, ultimate frisbee, racquetball, MMA, playing the piano and being outdoors with his family.

Calvin Buhler, CSCS

Calvin Buhler, BS, CSCS

Calvin has been in the health and human performance industry providing professional services for over a decade. He's worked as a personal trainer in corporate gyms, as an exercise physiologist in sports medicine and rehabilitation clinics and as a health coach/consultant for corporate wellness facilities. He's a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Exercise Science. No stranger to the demands of fitness and athletics, he's been successful as a competitive athlete for most of his life, achieving NCAA All-American status and receiving the well-respected NSCA's All-American Athlete of the Year award. He continues to train and compete in combat sports and outdoor recreation as a way of staying in shape and leading by example.
